Evaluation and Comparison of the Outcomes of Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy with and without Silicone Stent

Introduction Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy aims to establish a patent nasolacrimal fistula. Use of silicone stent is preferred modification achieve long term patency neo-ostium, though it has been blamed for granulations, synechia and punctal erosion. Present study was done evaluate compare the outcomes with without stent. Materials Methods 40 patients chronic dacryocystitis duct blockage were selected study. Nasal endoscopy suitability surgical access detect any nasal pathology. Sac syringing assess site Dacryoscintigraphy confirm it. 20 in Group A underwent remaining B Success rates determined by subjective relief from epiphora endoscopic visualization rhinostomy opening, granulation tissues/ synechiae at result sac syringing. Results In A, complete obtained 75% patients, significant 10% no 15% thus recording overall success rate 85%; whereas symptom 70% 20% 80%. Cases also found have persistent (17.5%), stenosis ostium (25%), (35%) (37.5%). Conclusion Stenting does not significantly improve but associated more complications.
